Varsity Boys Lose to West Burlington by 8 points in Non Conference Matchup WEST BURLINGTON — The Mt. Pleasant Panthers lost one on the road against the West Burlington Falcons, Saturday evening in the Falcon gym. The Panthers were able to explode out of the gate taking a lead over the Falcons during the first quarter. Panthers scorers include Dillon Hagans (2), Jack Johnson (4), Owen Vansickle (5), Brevin Wilson (1), and Sam Jerrel (3). However, the Panthers lost their momentum in the second quarter, and the Falcons were unable to close the gap. The Panthers ended the first half, 32 - 27, only 5 points behind the Falcons. Panthers that scored in the second quarter include Sam Jerrel (7), Brevin Wilson (2), and Chase Williamson (3). The Panthers were unable to keep slim margins on the Falcons for the third quarter. 10 points behind the Falcons, with a score of 56-44. Panthers that scored in the third quarter include Brevin Wilson (5), Chase Williamson (13), and Sam Jerrel (2). With a strong offense the Falcons were able to counteract the Panthers unified defense, by using their momentum against them to keep the lead in the fourth quarter ending, 68-60. Panthers that scored in the fourth include Dillon Hagans (2), Chase Willamson (8), and Jack Johnson (6). The Panther’s were led by Senior Chase Williamson, earning a career high 22 points, including six field goals from behind the line. Second behind Williamson is Junior Sam Jerrel with 12 points. This loss moves the Panthers to 1-2 overall. The Panthers face off against the Ottumwa Bulldogs this Tuesday at Evans Middle School gym in MP. Quarter by Quarter Scores: Q1: 15 - 10, MP Q2: 27 - 32, WB Q3: 56 - 44, WB Q4: 68 - 60, WB Varsity Girls Defeated by West Burlington Falcons WEST BURLINGTON — The Panther girls basketball team was downed by the West Burlington Falcons, Saturday afternoon in the Falcon gym, 73 - 43. The Panthers started out strong, scoring well in the first few minutes of the game, but with a powerful defense and a unified offense the Falcons were able to grind down the Panthers, keeping them from gaining a lead. The Panthers were able to start off strong with a good offense scoring early in the quarter but with a formidable defense the Falcons were able to regain the lead and hold it throughout the game. The Panthers started off on the bottom ending the first quarter 19-9. Panthers Tristan Shull (3), Andrea Lopreato (4), and Emma Huckabone (2) took an early start to the scoring in the first quarter. The second quarter told the same tale, the falcons held a 19 point lead ending the first half 38-19. Andrea Lopreato and Tristan Shull led the Panthers in the second quarter scoring 6 points and 4 points respectively. The Panthers were not able to recover, ending the third quarter 22 points behind the Falcons, 55-33. Emma Rugg (2), Emma Huckabone (7), Tristan Shull (3), and Andrea Lopreato (2). The Panthers finished the game, 73-43. Panthers that scored in the final quarter include Emma Huckabone (4) and Andrea Lopreato (6). Lopreato lead the Panthers in points scoring 16 over the course of the night. Senior Emma Huckabone was second with 13 points. The Panther girls are now 1-2 this season. The Panthers will be facing off against the Ottumwa Bulldogs at home Tuesday night at 7:30 in the MPCHS gym. Quarter by Quarter Scores:
