Pleasant Panther Boys defeated the Fairfield Trojans by just 3 points Friday night, in a continuous conference matchup. The Panthers came out on top after tying with a minute left in the fourth quarter. The Panthers beat the Trojans, 47-44. The Panthers gained a lead on the Trojans early in the game by flexing their defense, finishing the first, 13-8. The Panthers advanced on their lead with a combination of strong offensive moves, with a helping of defensive skill. The Panthers led at the half by 8 points, 25-17. The Panthers almost lost their cool in the 3rd quarter when the Trojan offense woke up from their snooze in the first half, with the Trojans able to score 14 points in the quarter. This allowed for the Trojans to close in by 6 points, threatening the Panthers sweep. The Panthers were able to stay on top, even with slim margins in the fourth quarter. An already intense game came to a boil when the Trojans tied 44-44 with a minute left in the final quarter. The Panthers worked the court, and senior Brevin Wilson was able to score a three point basket with seconds left on the clock. This put the Panthers up with 4 seconds left. The Panthers won the matchup by 3 points, 47-44, Friday night. The Panther boys are now 6-6 in the season after their breakthrough win against the Trojans. The Panthers improve in the SEC, now 4-3 in the conference. Pleasant Panther Girls Basketball team was defeated by the Fairfield Trojans during a conference matchup on Friday night, in the Trojan gym. The Panthers faced off against the conference leaders who are now 5-1 in their season. The Panthers lost by 20 points on Friday with the final tally, 52-32. The Panther’s led a close game until halftime, using offense to work the field ending the first quarter 9-6. Then the Panthers slipped, allowing the Lady Trojans to gain the lead going into the locker room, 18-12. The Panthers were out-scored after the half by the Trojans by 3 points in the 3rd. Allowing the Trojans to advance their lead, 29-20. The Trojans broke out of the game to score a total of 23 points during the 4th quarter. The Panthers only landed 12 leaving a 20 point lead at the buzzer on Friday night. The Panthers lost the conference matchup 52-32. The Panthers faced tough competition against the conference leaders on Friday night. The Fairfield Lady Trojans are 5-1 overall in their season and now 3-0 in the conference. The Panther girls are now 6-6 in the season overall, and 4-2 in the SEC. Trailing close behind the Trojans for the conference champ seat.
