Due to publication deadlines and our weekly publication format we cannot include them in our MailChimp. Panther Boys Muzzle Fort Madison Bloodhounds MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant Boys Basketball team defeated the Fort Madison Bloodhounds in conference play Friday night in Panther Gym. The Panthers started out with a firm lead on the Bloodhounds in the first quarter scoring 2 more points than their conference rivals. The Panther starting lineup came out strong in the first half, the Panthers broke out of the gate with a three point basket by Junior Dillon Hagans and a Layup by Senior Brevin Wilson. In the second quarter, the Panthers built on their lead, scoring 16 points ahead of the Bloodhounds, ending the quarter 21-5. The Panthers saw a strong showing from Cooper Pullis (1 Point), Dillon Hagans (2 Points), Jack Johnson (3 points), and Brevin Wilson (7 Points). The Panthers extended their lead in the third quarter to 21 points ahead of the Bloodhounds, the final score for the quarter 36-15. The third quarter saw some big plays, with Mt. Pleasant subbing in their reserve. Tyson Sysouchanh (2), Brevin Wilson (2), Sam Jerrel (2), Cooper Pullis (2), Dillon Hagans (2), and Chase Williamson (3). The Panther ended the game with a 20 point lead on the Bloodhounds, ending 49-29. The Panthers dominated the court, even in for the final quarter allowing the Bloodhounds to close in on the lead by 1 point. Players scoring in the final quarter include Chase Williamson (4), Dillon Hagans (4), Brevin Wilson (2), Jack Johnson (3), and Mason Mills (1). The highest scoring panther was Brevin Wilson at 13 points, and Dillon Hagans coming in second at 11 points. The win for the Panthers balances out their season record, with 1-1 after losing to the Xavier Saints on Tuesday. The Panthers are now 1-0 in the SEC. The Panthers face off against the West Burlington Falcons Saturday night in the West Burlington gym @ 4:30 p.m. Quarter By Quarter Score: Q1: 5-3, Panthers Q2: 21-5, Panthers Q3: 36-15, Panthers Q4: 49-29, Panthers Panther Girls Defeat Fort Madison Bloodhounds in Overtime Matchup FORT MADISON -- The Mt. Pleasant Girls Basketball team won by one point in an overtime matchup against the Fort Madison Bloodhounds, Friday night in the Bloodhound gym, 62-61. The Panthers stumbled out of the gate allowing Fort Madison to take the lead in the first quarter. The Panthers ended down 9-15. The Panthers kept up with the Bloodhounds in the next period, but the Bloodhounds were able to hold on to their lead at halftime 26-30. After being the underdogs in the first half, the Panthers were able to claw their way out from underneath in the third quarter, earning a 4 point lead 43-39. However, the Bloodhounds were able to keep the Panthers on their toes in the fourth quarter, tying the score and pushing the game into overtime, at 55-55. The Panthers finally solidified their win after finishing the overtime period on top by one point, final score 62-61, the Panthers taking the crown. The Panthers are now 1-1 in their overall season record after losing to the Pella Dutch Masters the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The Panthers are 1-0 in the SEC. The Panthers play on the road tonight against the West Burlington Falcons at 3 p.m. in the Falcon gym. Quarter by Quarter Score:
